Brad J Daugherty

Growing up outside a small town in rural northern Ohio, art offered an escape. Hours spent doodling on printer paper, discarded mail, and even on walls (sorry, mom) formed an early outlet to indulge my imagination. It was a way to combat the sometimes lonely surroundings, or an excuse to not have to pretend to enjoy the more athletic activities usually pushed on boys. Being an "artist" meant being myself. Which was good practice for maintaining an authentic personal and professional life later on.

Having majored in Illustration at the Columbus College of Art & Design, those early sensibilities to put pencil to paper were given a new, broader vocabulary, one that included typography, color theory, anatomy, history and graphic design. And it's that latter introduction that has allowed me to maintain a healthy, well-rounded career that now spans almost 20 years.

If those two decades of professional design experience have taught me anything, it's that those early attempts at carving out my own personality, to live authentically, were the most important lessons for being a good partner, a good employee and a good mentor. Talent is helpful in our chosen field. But an honest voice and the willingness to work collaboratively will take us much farther than talent alone.

Let's see what we can create together. Thanks for reading.
